What is Naturopathic Medicine?

It is the art and science of disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention using natural therapies and techniques. It relies on certain principles for treatment: first, do no harm; doctor as teacher, find the root cause of illness, address the whole person, and cooperate with the healing powers of nature. For treatment, naturopathic medicine relies on the use of non-pharmacological and non-surgical interventions and instead utilizes substances that are gentle and natural such as botanical medicines, vitamins, supplements, homeopathic medicines, hydrotherapy, and food therapy. Naturopathic medicine aims to treat the whole person and elucidate the root cause of illness.
